Day One.

I heard a southern expression that I think I'll co-opt tonight -- my dogs are barking. Man oh man do my feet hurt. And I'm so tired I almost fell asleep while sitting on the floor during the overcrowded, overhyped Veggie Tale event.

I'm sorry to say I'm going to have to save the extended version for another day because I'm worried a little about how incoherent I'm going to be tonight. :) I'll share a couple things and then hit the hay:

1. I'm actually real proud of myself because I screwed on my courage and went around the tv media area and talked to four or five people, offering myself for an interview if they had an opening. I had a real good chat with one lady that was probably the best connection I made...but I have no idea whether they'll actually call. It sort of depends on someone canceling and I hate to ask God to make some other poor soul have to cancel. ;)

2. I gladhanded for a couple hours and passed out a bunch of my bookmarks. I'll do that tomorrow for a few hours as well.

3. I'm having coffee with a publicist tomorrow morning. However, since I found out that the publicists who spoke to us at last night's dinner charge $5,000 a month...I doubt I'll be hiring her.

4. The Veggie Tale extravaganza at the Georgia Aquarium was ok. I thought they advertised it as a sneak preview of The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything and I was sure I could pick up some swag for my favorite VT fans, but it turned out it was a 'sneak peak' which meant we only saw five short clips. The Newsboys performed a song with someone I think called Steve Taylor who bounced around stage like he was on something...but I'm sure it was just the joy of the Lord. I also found that I couldn't understand any of the words and felt I was channeling my mother for a moment... ;) They did serve hot dogs which was nice since I missed most of the snacks at the personality party...which I will talk about tomorrow!
