No Wonder our Youth are Troubled #984

Seriously. How can we expect youth to grow up normally when we're removing every single societal element that once stood firm? Not only are we teaching kindergartners that they need to experiment with sex and drugs to figure out who they are; now we're redefining cultural pillars that go back to the foundation of the world. We used to have creative math, where 1+1 didn't necessarily equal 2 if it made you feel bad about yourself -- now we're espousing creative biology. No more male and female He created them. Just check out the new guidelines at a juvenile detention facility in New York:

While all residents may ask to be called by a preferred first name rather than their legal one, the policy says males who believe they are female must be called "she" and females who believe they are male must be referred to as "he." Staff must use the preferred name and pronoun in any documents they file.

There've been numerous stories recently about new laws under consideration in Florida, California, Colorado, and the New England states where public restrooms and locker rooms are being opened beyond the traditional -- and quite frankly logical, rational, reasonable, etc. -- definitions.

And as we've been doing for decades, we're exporting our cultural degeneration to the rest of the world. Here's a story out of Thailand I saw recently:

For teen boys who prefer to dress as girls at one rural high school in Thailand, taking a bathroom break no longer means choosing between "male" and "female" restrooms. There's now a "transvestite toilet."

For a very interesting read about where this is all headed, check out this article about the clash of gay rights and religious liberties over at NPR. It's sorta long, but well worth the read. Pay particular attention to Act Three.

Before It's Illegal, Part 435

via WorldNetDaily:

A Canadian human rights tribunal ordered a Christian pastor to renounce his faith and never again express moral opposition to homosexuality, according to a new report.

In a decision dated May 30 in the penalty phase of the quasi-judicial proceedings run by the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal, evangelical pastor Stephen Boisson was banned from expressing his biblical perspective of homosexuality and ordered to pay $5,000 for "damages for pain and suffering" as well as apologize to the activist who complained of being hurt.

Before It's Illegal...

Like us, our neighbors to the north are in the midst of a national debate regarding homosexual marriage. Unlike us, at least not yet, Canadians are risking fines and jail time if they decide to quote from the Bible during their discussions of this hot topic.

Catholic priest Father Alphonse de Valk is currently being investigated for a hate crime in reference to quoting, among other things, Bible verses pertaining to homosexuality when discussing his reasons for opposing gay marriage. You can read more here. Meanwhile, before it's illegal, I'd like to quote a passage in Romans:

Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Romans 1:24-27

Sex Change for Children.

QuickLink: Children's Hospital of Boston has opened a Gender Management Service Clinic to give children puberty-blocking drugs. Apparently, delaying puberty makes gender reassignment surgery as an adult easier, giving children more time to decide whether they want to be a man or a woman when they grow up. God help us.

Stunning Anti-Homeschooling Ruling in California.

Once again is this America? runs through my head. A judge in California has ruled that a homeschooling family must enroll their kids in public school or a qualified private school. The Long family has homeschooled all of their eight children, but the court decided the youngest two are not getting enough "social interaction" in the "cloistered setting" of their parents' home.

I imagine this could have serious implications for all those parents considering alternatives to public school in the wake of last year's SB 777.

No Mo Ho Ho Ho.

Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

In the words of someone quoted farther down in the article: "Gimme a break!"

Innocence Lost.

A woman with more influence than many parents and teachers:

Harry Potter fans, the rumors are true: Albus Dumbledore, master wizard and Headmaster of Hogwarts, is gay. J.K. Rowling, author of the mega-selling fantasy series that ended last summer, outed the beloved character Friday night while appearing before a full house at Carnegie Hall.

Further down:

Rowling, finishing a brief "Open Book Tour" of the United States, her first tour here since 2000, also said that she regarded her Potter books as a "prolonged argument for tolerance" and urged her fans to "question authority."

I don't really like fantasy and I'm not a fan of books about witches, but I almost started reading Harry Potter when it became such a cultural phenomenen. However, early on I saw Ms. Rowling say in an interview that her purpose in writing the books was to free people from the chains of religion and give up belief in God, or something like that. I just couldn't do it after hearing those words, though I've never jumped on the anti-Potter bandwagon.

I'm still not going to jump on the bandwagon, but after reading this article today I just have to wonder -- isn't there any place left in our society that isn't hyper-sexualized? California says we need to talk about sex in grade school, Norway is teaching it in pre-school...so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the so-called tolerance debate is shoved down the throats of children reading a story.

This week I saw a quick story on the Today Show about the super-stress of Tweens. According to Today, global warming is the second largest cause of stress for this age group and they quoted one kid saying something like "all the ice is melting and all the animals are dying." If that's what he's been told, no wonder he's stressed out!

But I got to wondering as I watched whether the true source of super-stress is the fact that we're no longer giving children a safe, innocent space to grow up in. They have to learn about sexuality and homosexuality and bisexuality and gender identity disorders...all before they have the emotional capability to handle those issues. They have to spend time wondering whether they're gay during an age when the genders traditionally think each other has the cooties. And now, in California, girls will have to contend with girls-trapped-in-boys-bodies coming into the locker room to change with them. What are we doing to our children?

Hate Crime or Holiday Decoration?

I was trolling one of my favorite news sites -- worldnetnaily -- when I came across this laughable story. Apparently a woman in Massachusetts is ticked because her neighbor put up a Halloween decoration. The problem? The decoration is a witch hanging from a gallows a la the Salem Witch Trials.

Again, what's the problem you might ask? The woman claims witchcraft as her belief system, therefore the decoration is a "hate crime against her religion." Well...she's got a point. According to my understanding of hate crimes legislation, all she needs to do is apply for most-precious-minority status and her right not to be offended will trump everyone else's right to freedom of speech. No More Mom & Dad.

Mom, Dad, Husband and Wife are the latest casualties in the tolerance war. If you don't also feature a same-sex couple in California classrooms and textbooks, those terms are now deemed discriminatory. Other gems from SB777, AB394 and AB14, which Arnold Schwarzeneggar signed into law:

"homecoming kings now can be either male or female – as can homecoming queens, and students, whether male or female, must be allowed to use the restroom and locker room corresponding to the sex with which they choose to identify."

"now on a banned list will be any text, reference or teaching aid that portrays marriage as only between a man and woman, materials that say people are born male or female (and not in between), sources that fail to include a variety of transsexual, bisexual and homosexual historical figures, and sex education materials that fail to offer the option of sex changes."

Why does this matter to you if you don't live in the Socialist Republic of California? Because they're the largest customer for most textbook companies, so when history is being re-written to match the new requirements, it's likely smaller customers in the flyover states will have to read the same bilge to their children. Tolerance for All*

*except Bible-Believing Christians

This morning the Senate passed a Defense Spending bill that has mostly to do with getting the troops better equipment and raises. Great, right? Oops, they also attached a hate crimes bill to the legislation, paving the way for thought crime enforcement. Somehow those two issues don't seem related, but maybe that's just me. You can read more about it here. <thanks Stacy!>

In related news, the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco is moving forward despite a small speedbump. Miller Brewing Co. folded to pressure and asked that their logo be removed from a "promotional poster portraying Jesus Christ and his disciples as 'half-naked homosexual sadomasochists.'"

That almost makes me want to go out and buy a beer -- I'm not sure I can recall a time in recent history when a company folded to a Christian protest -- except that the article I read says Miller only pulled their logo from the poster, not that they've actually removed their endorsement of the publicly-funded event where folks strut around naked and engage in public sexual acts.

And a final note about the Church of Tolerance: Germany is preparing to "forcibly deport" an American missionary family because they won't send their children to public schools <you may recall that homeschooling is illegal in Germany>. Apparently the government position is that missionaries generally do not "give their children over to the state school system," therefore they have refused a residency permit to the family. Be an Ally, Be a Friend.

I recently read an interview with Sally Field, discussing her ABC drama Brothers & Sisters. I'm not going to link to it because of the profuse usage of the F-word throughout the article, but one thing that interested me was something she said about a fan who came up to talk to her.

The woman said I love the show, but I wish you'd quit showing so much kissing between gay people because it makes me uncomfortable. Sally responded by asking whether the woman's mother was uncomfortable with shows back in the day that showed a black person and a white person kissing and that her uncomfortableness was her problem and she needed to get with the times.

This illustrated for me yet again how pervasive the propoganda has become that homosexuality is on the same level as race -- something you're born with that involves no decision-making. If that's the case, ex-homosexuals like Stephen Bennett shouldn't even exist, right?

Of course, I imagine that's the kind of "damaging, false myth" pro basketball player John Amaechi is referring to when he says:

Another Thought Crimes Fiasco.

In 2002, two pastors in Australia were lecturing on the differences between Christianity and Islam and, in the course of their talks, quoted directly from the Koran. What's wrong with quoting directly from the Koran? Well, apparently lots.

Danny Nalliah and Daniel Scot were the first to be convicted under Australia's 2002 Victorian Religious and Racial Tolerance Act for "hate crimes" and "villifying" Islam.

Homosexual Leader Finds Freedom.

"Homosexuality is death, and I choose life."

So says Michael Glatze, gay rights leader and founding editor of Young Gay America magazine. After ten years as a "rising star" within the lifestyle -- quoted, referenced, awarded, and called to speak on its behalf -- Glatze has found truth and healing in Jesus Christ.

In my experience, "coming out" from under the influence of the homosexual mindset was the most liberating, beautiful and astonishing thing I've ever experienced in my entire life.

You can read his column here and a worldnetdaily article here. I have my doubts the story will be reported anywhere else...but maybe Fox will pick it up. Hopefully he won't be silenced.

Big Bad eHarmony.

The latest group under fire from the tolerance police -- eHarmony. Today in California a lawsuit was filed which claims the online dating service practices discrimination based on sexual orientation. How? They don't offer 'men seeking men' and 'women seeking women' options.

As we all know, eHarmony is the only way for an individual to meet a suitable partner. There's not a single other avenue to find love in this whole wide world without using their services, so really, what's an available homosexual supposed to do if they want to find the love of their life?

Oh wait.

Excuse the sarcasm, but I'm sick to death of these kinds of lawsuits. eHarmony is a privately-owned company. They're not a monopoly. They're not funded by the government. They've simply chosen to provide a specific service tailored to a specific target audience.

I've got an idea. I'd like to see a Christian high school student apply for a scholarship from the Point Foundation, which gives money to "meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity." I don't know about you, but personally I find that mission statement discriminatory against meritorious students marginalized due to religious orientation, Biblical expression and Christian identity.

I don't really want to see a lawsuit like that, I just wish...I don't know. I guess it's hard to think of the most effective way to love your neighbor when he keeps coming into your house and poking you in the eyeball. A couple days ago I was on a talk radio program and a caller told me Christians were the most in your face group, wanting to be affirmed by the public, etc. I wish I'd had this news story to tell him about.

Gideons.

Mirto and Ernest Simpson, members of a Florida area Gideons group, were handing out Bibles in front of a public high school last January when they were arrested. When asked the charge, the officer responded that they'd be informed within 48 hours. Allegedly, they were also told they could "pray to Jesus all the way to jail."

They didn't get within 500 feet of the school and they'd informed both the local sheriff's office and school officials that they'd be there that day. In other words, they followed the correct legal procedure and still were arrested <read more>.

This reminds me of a story I read while overseas about an entire hotel chain that just decided to remove the Bibles placed by Gideons because they'd had one complaint. Remind me again what country it is we live in?

Casualties in the Tolerance War: Garden Guy

Garden Guy is a small landscaping firm in Houston. When a homosexual couple asked for bids on their house, they received a polite e-mail from one of the owners stating that, because of their beliefs, they chose not to work for homosexuals. From that one e-mail, a reign of terror came down on Garden Guy's owners from the tolerance preachers:

"It was just our intent to uphold our rights as small business owners to choose our clientele," she said. "All the hate, the threats of sodomizing my children, the threats of me being murdered, came out because of a very businesslike straightforward e-mail I sent. The crowd of tolerance and diversity is not so tolerant."

Casualties in the Tolerance War: Scott Savage

Almost everyone who has commented to me after reading MPA has said they thought "it could happen." I find this a little disturbing, frankly, as I just made the whole thing up when I started writing in 1999. So...I've recently been trying to educate myself a little more about what is going on in the world as regards tolerance in general. The internet can be a beautiful thing. I typed in "tolerance re-education" on ask.com and came up with...

Scott Savage, a librarian at Ohio State University-Mansfield. He's on a committee that suggests required reading for incoming freshman and, earlier this year, suggested four books. Because of his suggestions, three professors on campus filed a sexual harassment claim against Mr. Savage. The faculty voted to have him investigated, then the vote was "rescinded two days later for legal reasons."

One of his colleagues sent a faculty e-mail about one of the suggestions -- The Marketing of Evil. He wrote:

"… I am not shocked, only deeply saddened – and THREATENED – that such mindless folks are on this great campus. … You have made me fearful and uneasy being a gay man on this campus. I am, in fact, notifying the OSU-M campus, and Ohio State University in general, that I no longer feel safe doing my job. I am being harassed."

I looked at blurbs of the four book suggestions and am fully willing to concede, for the sake of brevity, that they look like they'd fall under the purview of "right wing" literature. However, others on the committee suggested books that were patently "left wing" in nature and received not a hint of accusation. And they shouldn't have.

My question -- how is it that Mr. Savage was committing threatening acts merely by suggesting the reading of a book that puts forth a view that is in the minority on college campuses?
